An Education Rethink
In the future many of our physical tasks will be completed by robots and many of our processes will be managed by artificial intelligence. This means that the main role of a human will be to observe and express. This is how Copernicus discovered the sun was the center of the solar system. This is how Benjamin Franklin discovered electricity in storm clouds.
We must all be able to take our unique observations and turn them into useful information for our fellow humans. We’re developing a curriculum that trains learners to make an observation, define a challenge, identify contributions, take action, and reflect. These are the skills that will be needed to build in the future.
So how do we teach a young person to embrace their agency and responsibility by observing, expressing, and taking action while still retaining their unique perception? This is the goal of the curriculum.
Observation
Learn to perceive and express the world with each of our senses; sight, smell, hearing, touch, and taste.
Challenge
How to define and express a challenge so that it’s approachable and joinable.
Contribution
How to identify and express all contributions to surmount a challenge.
Action
How to plan, inspire, and take action as an individual or a group.
Reflection
How to reflect and express actions taken so that the next time through the process has better results.
